Cyber Security Week :- An Initiative

Bruce Schneier once said,
” Amateurs hack systems; professionals hack people. “
This renowned man is a computer security professional, among other marvellous professions, including being a lecturer at Harvard. He is also known as the ‘security guru’, and in all his years of experience of exposure to the dark side of the web, he quoted this.

If we look at the world according to these words, many professionals have emerged in the last decade. As reported by economictimes.com, weekly cyber attacks have increased by 18% in India, and the attacks have risen to 7% globally, an average of 5248 attacks per week.

Also, as per Quora, the number of hackers worldwide is 100k to 200k.

To protect ourselves from this energy of cyber attacks, there are a few basic steps which we must take to keep a pleasant distance from such professional attackers.

The most simple yet efficient change we can do in our slightly weak security system is to replace our passwords regularly with an equally or even more strong password, which not even your close mates could guess.

Why?

Because you never know what might happen.

Additionally, while signing in / logging in to a website, we all choose the easy, quick way and skip the multi-authentication.

Even though skipping it seems nothing later, it can cost us quite heavily. So, always choose an additional security method such as a fingerprint, a PIN sent for confirmation, a personal password, etc.

Living in the 21st century comes with a list of pros and cons. We must be aware of phishing scams, fake emails and posters, hoax phone calls, etc. and never fall for their ludicrous scams.

The above are only a few strategies we can adopt to avoid getting involved in a few of many cases of Cyber Crime, but the list of such methods is endless. Still, with all this in mind, the most cardinal thing we can do is always to be aware and keep our senses in check all the time.
